David Avenetti, DDS, MS, MPH
I am the Residency Program Director and an Associate Professor (tenure track) at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry.

    I earned my DDS degree from UCLA School of Dentistry in 2010, I earned my Specialty Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital in 2013. While at University of Washington, I concurrently earned an MS and MPH. My MPH was through the Department of Health Services where my MPH was supported by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau.

    "It is good to have a plan, but stay open minded since some of the best opportunities will be ones you never expect. For example, I always assumed that clinical dentistry was the only option, but I am able to apply my public health background through research, teaching, and patient care."

    I actually liked to switch it up regularly; this allowed me to explore various buildings on campus.
Diana Cholakian Pearre
Graduating from fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology, University of California, Irvine 2021. Starting in August at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center as a gynecologic oncologist

    "Get involved and find a mentor! There are so many organizations/clubs on campus that connect people with similar interests and that can help connect you with mentors for your desired career path. My mentor from undergrad was the faculty advisor for the pre-physical therapy club I helped start and he is still mentoring me to this day!"

    I studied everywhere! But I did like studying in the many private study rooms at the campus center since they were newer and had snack places nearby.
